These individuals will advise Americans for the Arts’ staff on developing programs and services that will build a deeper connection to the field and the network membership.

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education in America, announced today that it has been awarded a $100,000 Art Works: Arts Education grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support the State Policy Pilot Program, a three-year program aiming to strengthen the focus and attention being put on arts education through advancing state-level education policy.

Americans for the Arts and the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) today presented the Public Leadership in the Arts Award for State Arts Leadership to the four founding chairs of the Pennsylvania Legislative Arts & Culture Caucus—Sen. Patrick Browne (R-16, representing part of Lehigh County), Sen. Jay Costa (D-43 representing part of Allegheny County), Rep. Tim Briggs (D-149, representing part of Montgomery County), and Rep. Stan Saylor (R-94, representing part of York County). The annual award was presented at the NCSL Fall Forum in Washington, DC, and honors public officials who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the advancement of the arts at the state level.

This holiday season, Henri Bendel is partnering with Americans for the Arts and New York-based artist James Goldcrown. Today, from 5-9 p.m., Henri Bendel will unveil a JGoldcrown original Love Wall mural to introduce their holiday campaign "From Bendel with Love" at Bendel’s flagship store in New York City. Henri Bendel will donate 10 percent of proceeds from this in-store event, up to $10,000, to Americans for the Arts.

KRIS and Americans for the Arts are partnering again for the seventh consecutive year. Over the past six years, the “Art of Education” program awarded over $350,000 in grants to schools in the United States to improve academic achievement through quality arts education. Now called the “Art of Giving,” this year’s campaign has broadened its purview to focus on public art.
