Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, announced today that Julie C. Muraco has been elected as Chair to its Board of Directors for a two-year term. Muraco replaces Abel López, associate producing director of GALA Hispanic Theatre, who served as Chair since 2013. Muraco becomes the first woman Chair of Americans for the Arts since the organization’s formation as a result of a merger in 1996.

Julie is one of our longest tenured Board members—joining in 2005 through our merger with the Arts & Business Council—and has made a tremendous impact on our finances as treasurer since 2011 and as an active member of our investment committee. Julie’s commitment to the organization and the bridging of the for-profit and nonprofit arts in America will make her an outstanding Chair,” said Robert L. Lynch, president and CEO of Americans for the Arts.

 

Muraco is the founder and Managing Partner of Praeditis Group LLC, a capital markets and business consultancy working with entrepreneurs, family offices, foundations and endowments seeking alternative investment strategies and direct investments. In early 2015, Praeditis Group partnered with TBLI Group Holdings, B.V. in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, assuming the role of CEO and Managing Partner. TBLI is a global advisory and conference business focused on ESG and Impact investment strategies.

 

Prior to founding Praeditis Group, Muraco was Senior Managing Director and head of global capital markets for The NASDAQ Stock Market, LLC, working with financial sponsors and corporate advisors transitioning private companies to the public market.

 

Muraco serves as treasurer and Chair of the Investment Committee for the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation, and is on the Board of Directors for DC Solar Freedom, Inc. She resides in New York, NY, and Aspen, Colorado.
