Corporate Foundation Forecast
Giving by corporate foundations remained close to unchanged in 2008, granting $4.4 billion. The Foundation Center annual forecasting survey found that 51 percent of corporate foundations that responded expect to decrease their giving in 2009. For information, www.foundationcenter.org.

Skills Based Volunteerism
Approximately 25 percent of nonprofits surveyed have no plans to implement skills-based volunteerism in 2009. However, 95 percent of those surveyed said there is a greater need for pro bono work. Of the corporations polled, one in four answered that they do not have the staff to oversee an employee volunteer program. The Deloitte LLP commissioned poll was conducted by Taproot Foundation and Opinion Research Corp. For information, www.deloitte.com.

Value of Volunteer Time
The Independent Sector has announced a new estimated value for volunteer time. The estimated value of a volunteer hour in 2008 is $20.25, up from $19.51 in 2007. For information, www.independentsector.org.

Americans for the Arts Annual Convention
Americans for the Arts Annual Convention, Renewable Resources: Arts in Sustainable Communities, will take place June 18–June 20, 2009.
