Kristen Engebretsen
Kristen Engebretsen joined the staff at Americans for the Arts in 2011. While there she ws the Arts Education Policy Manager, responsible for promoting public policies that advance arts education throughout the country. Her portfolio included overseeing strategic plan for arts education, managing the State Policy Pilot Program, developing national partnerships and funding opportunities, developing new programs and initiatives, and crafting new publications on arts education policy.
Prior to her arrival in DC, she worked at several arts organizations in Los Angeles, including the LA County Arts Commission and the Music Center: Performing Arts Center of LA County. She has performed with a professional symphony on the string bass, both in the United States and abroad. She has also taught dance at various arts education organizations, and she continues to serve on the Board of Directors for CRE Outreach, a small nonprofit theater company in Los Angeles. She holds a Master of Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California.
