GENERAL
Excerpts from remarks following dedication of Alexander Calder's sculpture, Eagle, by Fort Worth National Bank for the Plaza of its new headquarters building, February 15, 1974, Fort Worth, Texas.
Art and business are intertwined, and inextricably so. Not only is there an inter-relatedness in the sense that neither would exist long without the other, but each needs the same climate of political, economic and social freedom in order to flourish and to well serve society. Accordingly, the theme I would like to develop today concerns how important it is for artists and businessmen each to be understanding of and supportive of what it takes for the other to flourish.
