Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Strategic Plan 2001-2005

GENERAL

Research Abstract
Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Strategic Plan 2001-2005

The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) was established in 1966 to encourage and develop the arts in the Commonwealth. This document reflects a five-year plan for the agency approved by the PCA in 2001.

A chronology of the strategic planning process is presented. The plan itself is prefaced with an overview of the successes and refinements needed from the previous long-range strategic plan that covered the years from 1995-2000. The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Strategic Plan 2001-2005 is unveiled exhibiting an outline of the long-range goals, strategies and tactics of the agency. The five goals identified are considered the essential components of the services that the PCA provides:

  • Goal I. The Arts for the People of Pennsylvania.

Foster and promote access to arts experiences for all the people of Pennsylvania by supporting the artists, arts organizations and infrastructure that deliver these services.

  • Goal II. Infrastructure for the Arts.

Help create a climate of opportunity for the arts of Pennsylvania within and outside Pennsylvania.

  • Goal III. Arts in Education.

Create an honored place for the arts in lifelong education.

  • Goal IV. Advocacy.

Create an honored place for Pennsylvania arts, artists, and arts organizations in local, state, and international communities.

  • Goal V. Participation.

Enhance opportunities for participation in the arts in Pennsylvania.
