GENERAL

Research Abstract
The Nonprofit Organization: An Operating Manual

This book is based on material developed for a seminar I have taught for several years at Radcliffe College. I would iike to thank my students who provided many of the best ideas for the book. I am also grateful to Nancy Downey, Director of the Radcliffe seminars, who originally encouraged me to develop the course material. I would like to thank Mary Van Someren Cok, Pat Doran, and Henry Bromelkamp for their help on Chapter 7. Ms. Cok also provided many of the examples for Chapter 6. Roger Neugebauer assisted with the section on cash flow in Chapter 5. A special thanks to Mary Kennan and Suse Cioffi of the General Publishing Division of Prentice-Hall. Finally, I am especially grateful to Ann Backus, who read the entire manuscript and made substantial editorial suggestions.
