In Maryland, the designation comes with tax benefits for artists to live, work, and perform within the district, as well as tax credits for new construction or renovations of certain buildings that create live-work spaces for artists or other creative enterprises.

Biography

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has been a stalwart advocate for the arts throughout his nearly 40 years of service in the U.S. House of Representatives.  A proud member of the Congressional Arts Caucus and a dedicated champion for the National Endowment for the Arts and other cultural agencies, Congressman Hoyer works to ensure arts and arts education funding in America.
