The 26th annual Arts Advocacy Day in Washington, DC, brought together a cross section of America's cultural and civic organizations, along with more than 500 grassroots advocates from 40 states, to underscore the importance of developing strong public policies and appropriating increased public funding for the arts and arts education.

ROXEY BALLET PRESENTS "MOWGLI," THE JUNGLE BOOK BALLET ON MAY 5 & 6 Performances are at The College of New Jersey's Kendall Hall
Roxey Ballet presents three family-friendly performances of “Mowgli” at The College of New Jersey's Kendall Hall on May 5 and 6. This full-length ballet based on Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, tells the story of a young boy raised by a wolf pack in India. These performances, featuring original choreography by Mark Roxey, run Saturday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. (Sensory-Friendly) and 4:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m.

Dracula is the perfect way to spend the Halloween Season. Mark Roxey successfully combines contemporary choreography, brilliant videography, striking minimalist sets, lavish costumes and world-class artistry to recreate Dracula. Get ready to experience this scary ballet! Sink your teeth into the Gothic tale of Dracula as he struggles against the power of the cross and his love of Lucy. This is the show you have been waiting for!

Roxey Ballet, the award-winning professional dance company, is proud to present its annual holiday classic: Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker". This acclaimed event has become a favorite tradition of area residents and holiday visitors alike.
 

Influence from the Middle is an interactive breakout conversation about the role of entry and middle management regarding developing and implementing ideas and strategies on behalf of your organization pertaining to equity in the arts as it relates to diversity, inclusion and intersectionality. The day will include coffee and lunch. All attendees are asked to bring an arts related job description and/or an an arts pamphlet/season brochure that either exemplifies equity, diversity and inclusion or includes limiting or exclusionary language or imagery.

LIPS} is super excited to present new sculptures by Armisey Smith in a solo-exhibition, "Sugared Walls". Join us at Armisey's  Artist Opening on Friday, July 29th at 7:00 PM as we celebrate her amazing sculptures, enjoy tasty summer drinks, and snack on delicious cheeses.

Armisey Smith's "Sugared Walls" exhibition will be up the entire month and will end with her Artist Talk on Friday, August 26th 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM.

In addition to monthly group exhibitions in their main gallery, Gallery U is now featuring a monthly solo exhibition by local artists on their boutique wall. September will highlight the work of Westfield photographer Michael Endy. This special exhibit will premiere the artist’s newest series of photographs titled Across Water.  
 

Roxey Ballet stages a spectacular production of Bram Stokers "Dracula".  RB’s original ballet choreography follows Bram Stoker’s horror story set in 18th century England and tells the tale in a theatrical performance with dazzling pyrotechnic, sound and lighting effects.

To celebrate the first-ever International Sculpture Day, the International Sculpture Center in collaboration with Grounds For Sculpture is hosting a free community art party- the IS Day TASK Party on Friday, April 24th from 6-10pm at Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ.

Join the International Sculpture Center in collaboration with Grounds For Sculpture for ISConnects: Artist Walk and Talk with Jae Ko on Friday, June 17. Jae Ko works primarily with huge rolls of paper, transforming this every day, common medium into works of fluid abstraction and beauty. On June 17, Ko will present an artist talk surrounding her 80-foot long paper installation, “Force of Nature, Shiro”, in the East Gallery at Grounds For Sculpture, before taking a stroll with the audience to view more works from her “Selections” exhibition in the Domestic Arts Building.

Gallery U Westfield and Poetry U is pleased to host poet Joel Allegretti on Friday, May 22, 2015, from 7-9 PM as he reads from his new collection "The Body In Equipoise." The evening will also feature and open mic. All poets are welcome to join the open mic.

Gallery U Boutique in Westfield, NJ, and Poetry U are pleased to present a book release party and reading by poet Michelle Greco followed by an open mic this Friday, April 24, 2015, from 7-9 PM. Michele will be reading from her brand new collection of poems, "Field Guide to Fire."

The International Sculpture Center in collaboration with Grounds For Sculpture will host a TASK Party with Oliver Herring on April 24, 2015. We will celebrate International Sculpture Day (IS Day) with this exciting improvisational art party at Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ, where participants will write, interpret, and select tasks to construct a creative environment. Join us for an evening of dancing like there’s no tomorrow, inventing something, making new friends, and more.

The International Sculpture Center in collaboration with The College of New Jersey will present ISConnects: Sculpture and Happiness on February 13, 2015 from 12:30-1:30PM at The College of New Jersey. Killy Kilford, artist, author, and founder of the Dept. of Well Being will discuss how sculpture can trigger feelings of community connectivity and inspire positive social change, before opening up the discussion for a Q&A session with the audience. This event is free and open to the public.

Gallery U Boutique is pleased and honored to host the first exhibition of 2015 by members of the Contemporary Art Group (CAG). All are welcome to an opening reception on Friday, January 9, 2015, from 6-8 PM. Artwork will be on exhibit through February 2, 2015. Participating artists include Virginia Carroll, Diane Gallo, Mel Holston, Maxine King, Avi Kiriakatis, Constantine Kiriakatis, Donald Kuhn, Linda Lam, Lane Lewis, Linnea W. Rhodes, Dorothy Siclare, Cecilly Sullivan, Rosalia Tignini Verdun and Cynthia Walling.

Gallery U is proud to present "Primar(il)y Red: Artwork Celebrating the Primary COlor Red." Gallery U’s successful monthly reading series will feature work by poets Tony Ciavolella, Greer Gurland, and novelist Alison Ruth who will be reading from her new young adult novel "Near-Mint Cinderella". Gallery U Boutique is located at 439 South Ave West in Westfield, NJ.

A special edition of Poetry U featuring a performance by The Fractal Ensemble, a contemporary group of musicians and spoken word artists.
