Today, Americans for the Arts’ Public Art Network (PAN) releases the 2019 PAN Year in Review application. The current application is accepting submissions for public art projects that were completed and open to the public from January 1 to December 31, 2018.  

The PAN Year in Review annually recognizes outstanding public art projects that represent the most compelling work for the year from across the country and beyond. Three public art professionals serve as jurors to review hundreds of project applications and select up to 50 projects to include. The PAN Year in Review is the only national program that specifically recognizes public art projects and is an excellent advocacy and educational tool for those who are impacting their community through public art.

Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, February 27, 2019. More information on the PAN Year in Review and the link to the application can be found here.

Selected public art projects are publicly announced at the annual Public Art Preconference of Americans for the Arts’ Annual Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota June 13-16, 2019. The jurors present their selections and provide insight into what topics and trends emerged from their review of the hundreds of applications. The selected projects are presented gallery-style throughout the Public Art Preconference and Annual Convention to over 1,000 attendees, are included in the PAN Year in Review Online Database along with previously recognized projects. Americans for the Arts announces the selected projects through a social media push and a national press release. The applicants for the selected public art projects are provided a press release template for distribution to their media outlets to showcase the national recognition of their public art project.

The applicants, artists, and commission/funding agencies for the selected projects receive a formal letter and a certificate of recognition and are invited to participate in a ARTSBlog blog salon to provide insight and lessons learned in the development of their projects.
