Blue Line Arts, a Roseville, CA-based gallery, arts education, and cultural facility recently announced its acquisition of select programs of the Arts & Business Council of Sacramento (SacABC).

The programs that Blue Line Arts will continue to operate, starting in 2016, include Prelude to the Season, an annual arts excellence awards show; and Flywheel, and incubator that trains artists to hone practical business skills.

“This is a strategic partnership that will strengthen Sacramento-based artist programs, expand professional business services and complement the programs Blue Line offers,” said Julie Hirota, chief executive of Blue Line Arts, who will oversee the programs.

The acquisition was an agreement between Blue Line Arts; SacABC executive director, Michelle Alexander; and the board of SacABC, which was greatly in need of increased resources to maintain its programs. Alexander has offered to serve Blue Line Arts in an advisory capacity and consult on the projects acquired by the organization.

Ed Goldman, president of Blue Line Arts' board, said: “SacABC has built up a tremendous amount of community goodwill, thanks largely to Michelle Alexander’s resourcefulness, and the Blue Line board has absolute confidence in Julie Hirota’s ability to build on its successes. This will also strengthen and expand Blue Line’s regional brand.”
