NJTV News produced a video and article highlighting Americans for the Arts’ efforts to fight for the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. This week, the organization ran full-page ads in the New York Post and The Hill with a simple but powerful message: “The arts put America to work.” Anxieties among members of the nation’s arts and culture community have been high since January when The Hill reported details on the Trump administration’s considered program cuts to facilitate a reduction in federal spending. Representative Leonard Lance, Republican co-chair of both the Congressional Arts and Humanities caucuses, commented that he is concentrating on informing colleagues how important it is to continue funding for the arts and for the humanities. Ann Marie Miller, Director of Advocacy & Public Policy at ArtPrideNJ and Americans for the Arts’ New Jersey state federal advocacy captain, was also interviewed for the story.
