One can only wonder what Marshall McLuhan, who coined the phrase “The medium is the message,” would have thought about the Rest Stop Theatre Project, a novel outdoor mobile experience that takes place in the back of a beat-up pickup truck. Rest Stop Theatre featured a cast of four actors running through compelling non-partisan scenes designed to increase local voting participation in the 2016 presidential election.

Three Elected Officials Honored for Exceptional Commitment and Contributions to the Arts at the United States Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting
Jay Inslee, Governor of Washington, was awarded the National Award for State Arts Leadership; Becky Ames, Mayor of Beaumont, Texas, received the National Award for Local Arts Leadership for cities with a population of 100,000 or more; and Jill Techel, Mayor of Napa, California, was awarded the National Award for Local Arts Leadership for cities with a population fewer than 100,000. The honores have each demonstrated ongoing dedication to the development and support of arts and arts education programming.
