This study was conducted to develop a comprehensive strategy that ensures every Illinois student has an education that includes the arts. Ten states with substantive arts education policy were analyzed to determine how their efforts were initiated, advanced and implemented. The states include: California, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wisconsin. The authors summarize the states' policies and offer recommendations based on their findings.
