Everett G. Powers is the founding president and chief operating officer of The Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg, SC, a local arts agency active in cultural planning and development, technical assistance, advocacy, public relations, and arts education that conducts South Carolina's largest united arts campaign. The organization recently raised $35.5 million for the development of a center for arts, science, and heritage in downtown Spartanburg. Powers is past chair of the national United Arts Funds Council and past president of the South Carolina Arts Alliance. He has conducted workshops and consulted in arts management, board development, grant writing, public relations, marketing, and united arts fund raising in 16 states and has served as a grant panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts and the states of Louisiana, South Carolina, and Kentucky. He hosts Impressions, a weekly television program that airs on educational television in three states. Powers formerly served as executive director of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and chair of the Louisiana Arts Partnership and was architect of a state arts funding decentralization plan that dramatically increased governmental support for the arts in Louisiana. He was the 2000 recipient of the Michael Newton Award for Excellence in United Arts Fundraising. Powers has a B.A. from Louisiana State University and an M.A. from Stanford University.
