Hundreds of children and their families are expected to visit the Torpedo Factory Art Center on Saturday, October 13, for Art Safari, an Alexandria family tradition for 23 years. Visitors can get their hand dirty with a bevy of interactive activities and crafts from noon to 4 pm.

The Torpedo Factory Art Center stays open late on the 2nd Friday of each month for The Late Shift. A new theme each month, the evening features gallery talks, artist receptions, music, live performances, hands-on artmaking, and three floors of open artists' studios. 

Never hide your talent! The National Arts Program Foundation in support and cooperation with the City of Richmond / Richmond Public Schools employees and immediate family give all artists, at all skill levels an opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional manner and to compete for cash prizes. The group exhibit is judged by professional artists and visual art professionals in Amateur, Intermediate, Professional and Youth/Teen classifications.

An informative and life changing seminar focusing of restorative justice and the traumatic effects of incarceration on the community. Therapeutic art session: 'Peace by Pieces': community quilt project, dance movement and pottery. Enjoy 'Love Locked Down Theater project' 30-min play based on the block by author R. Have you ever considered trying stand-up comedy or comedy writing?  The Armed Services Arts Partnership and William & Mary are teaming up to offer a free, eight-week stand up comedy class exclusively for service members and veterans.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from Tim Loulies, the lead comedy instructor for the VB Funny Bone and participate in the only comedy class in the US specifically for service members and veterans.

BASETRACK LIVE is a multidisciplinary work including theater, music, news media, journalism, and technology.  While embedded with the First Battalion, Eighth Marines in Southern Afghanistan, a group of photojournalists led by Teru Kuwayama started the online project that became the authentic dialogue of the performance.  Connecting Battalion members with their families and others around the world, the online project became a platform for documenting the range of perspectives and the emotional tolls of deployment and beyond.

The United States Air Force Orchestra accompanies a musical performance commemorating the 150th anniversary of Arlington National Cemetery and featuring the Washington, D.C., area premiere of "Arlington Sons," performed by Broadway and Metropolitan Opera star, David Pittsinger, as well as an original work by Virginia composer Stephen Melillo, titled "Courageous."

Featuring The U.S. Air Force Reed Quintet and The U.S. Air Force Chamber Trio, as well as special guest, Broadway and Metropolitan Opera star, David Pittsinger, for the premiere of "Arlington Sons," commemorating the 150th anniversary of Arlington National Cemetery.

Aaron Schock (R-IL) and Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR),  Americans for the Arts will bring together STEAM leaders in diverse sectors, including academic, industry, government, and education fields to discuss briefly their work with STEAM and respond to a moderated question to build a conversation and showcase STEAM as a movement the public can join.
