Spending by arts nonprofits and their audiences supports 5,115 full-time equivalent jobs and generates $21 million in city and state tax revenue. These numbers come from Arts and Economic Prosperity 5, a national economic impact study by Americans for the Arts.

On September 8, leaders from the arts, business, and local government will gather for a public forum on the intersection of arts and the local economy. The event—called “Whose Business is the Arts?”—will be co-sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Arts Council and the Lehigh Valley Partnership. This figure includes both direct spending by the arts organizations and event-related spending by audience members. A person who attends a nonprofit arts and cultural event in Doña Ana County spends an average of $28.93 at local hotels, restaurants, and stores.
