Artist Jen Lewin's multimedia light sculpture, The Pool will be exhibited May 7-11, 2016 from dusk until 10pm at NYCxDESIGN's Design Pavilion at the Astor Place Plaza in Greenwich Village, NYC.
This playful sculpture invites viewers to interact with the work, with the space, as well as with each other. The Pool was most recently featured at Light City 2016 in Baltimore, MD and next will be touring the west coast.
Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. talked to the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts in Las Vegas, NV on Thursday and emphasized the importance of a well-rounded education for every student in America. More, he acknowledged the vital role of the arts in rethinking education.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts recently announced the Owensboro Public Schools Board of Education in Owensboro, KY has received the 28th annual Kennedy Center and National School Boards Association (NSBA) Award for exemplary leadership in arts education.
The California State Senate Education Committee heard testimony today on SB 916, the Theatre and Dance Act (which legislators have dubbed "TADA!") that would establish single-subject credentials for dance and theater. The committee members voted in unanimous support, 9-0, and one senator called it "absolute[ly] awesome."
NEW YORK CITY (MAY 2, 2016) – Internationally renowned interactive artist Jen Lewin is exhibiting her prolific light based sculpture The Pool at DESIGN PAVILION during NYCxDESIGN.
The Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston recently created a helpful video in which their mission, programs, and network are explained. It features examples of partnerships that the council can help facilitate and how these partnerships support a broader arts “ecosystem."
Through its Open Spaces program, the Kenneth Rainin Foundation recently released a funding opporunity for temporary public art projects in Oakland and San Francisco. As a means to support projects that "engage communities, showcase artistic experimentation, and energize public spaces" the Rainin Foundation is accepting applications from artists and nonprofit organzations.
"I forget how we first found out about the CS accelerator, but our first reaction to the description was that it sounded perfect for us — if we’d be able to get in. I think the application deadline was earlier than we thought we were ready for (we had considered looking into accelerators around the end of 2015, not mid-2015), but our CEO Shivani is hands down amazing at taking (and making) opportunities regardless of how ‘ready’ we feel, which keeps up our team’s momentum."
The mural, designed by Ashley Brossart, features vignettes depicting life in the Shawnee neighborhood of Louisville.
Work for Art, the United Arts Fund campaign of Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC), is hosting its first ever corporate battle of the bands. A celebration of employee creativity, the event will feature employee bands from some of Work for Art’s partner companies who will perform for family, friends, and co-workers.
