Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, today announced those companies selected by the Business Committee for the Arts (BCA), a division of Americans for the Arts, as The BCA 10: Best Businesses Partnering with the Arts in America for 2013. In addition, Michael B. McCallister, chairman of the Board of Humana Inc. (Louisville, KY) will receive the 2013 BCA Leadership Award, and Northwestern Mutual (Milwaukee, WI) will be inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame. The BCA 10 Awards, BCA Leadership Award and BCA Hall of Fame will be presented by Americans for the Arts on October 2, 2013, at a black-tie gala at the Central Park Boathouse in New York City.

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, in conjunction with the National Association of Counties (NACo) presented the 2013 National Award for County Arts Leadership to Broward County, FL’s Board of Commissioners yesterday. The Board of Commissioners received the award at NACo’s annual conference, being held this year in Ft. Worth, TX.

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, and the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) today presented Illinois Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon with the Public Leadership in the Arts Award for State Arts Leadership, which honors a public official who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the advancement of the arts at the state level. Lt. Governor Simon will receive her award today at the NLGA’s Annual Conference in Oklahoma City.

Local arts agencies—which include arts councils, arts commissions, arts service organizations, and other arts enabling organizations—exist to advance the arts at the local level.

Elected to the Board of Directors on June 18, DiGiusto has already begun her service with Americans for the Arts. Business support for the arts was up between 2009 and 2012, with cash plus non-cash giving increasing 18 percent according to a new survey by the Business Committee for the Arts (BCA), a division of Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts.
