Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, announced today that it is presenting the 2012 Public Art Network Award to conceptual visual artist Mel Chin. The Public Art Network Award honors innovative contributions to, and exemplary commitment and leadership in, public art. Mr. Chin will receive his award on June 7 at the Americans for the Arts Public Art Preconference in San Antonio.

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, announced today that it is presenting the 2012 Arts Education Award to Arts @ Large, an innovative program that provides multidisciplinary arts experiences for Milwaukee Public Schools K-12 students. Presented annually by the Arts Education Council of Americans for the Arts since 2007, the award honors the best in arts education program design, execution and organizational leadership.

Ovation, the only network dedicated to art, artists and all forms of artistic storytelling, is putting its money where its passion is once again, this time funding a national arts grant program called The innOVATION Grant Program. Inspired by the remarkable community revitalization effort documented in the network's upcoming original series Motor City Rising, and eager to support similar stories of artist-led neighborhood renewal across the nation, Ovation is contributing $110,000 for the initial year's grants. The program will be managed by Americans for the Arts, the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education.

The award, which recognizes distinguished public service on behalf of the arts, will be presented on Tuesday, April 17 at the Congressional Arts Kick Off during Arts Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill.
