In addition, Emmy Award®-winning actress Holland Taylor will be honored with the 2012 Legendary Artist Award.

Lynch has been appointed to a two-year term on the United States Travel and Tourism Advisory Board. The announcement was made today in conjunction with President Barack Obama's new  national strategy to make the United States the world's top travel and tourism destination, as part of a comprehensive effort to spur job creation.

On Saturday, January 14, 2012, at An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala, YoungArts will honor actor Robert Redford with the Arison Award; visual artist Doug Aitken with the Alumni Award; and arts administrator Robert Lynch, President of the Americans for the Arts, with the YoungArts Leadership Award. The gala, held at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts and the J.W. Marriott Marquis Hotel, will bring together prominent artists, community leaders, philanthropists and celebrities to celebrate the 2012 national YoungArts winners.

The Americans for the Arts Action Fund, a membership organization that seeks to engage citizens in education and advocacy in support of the arts, today announced the event schedule for ArtsVoteIowa. From November 16-17, ArtsVoteIowa will present a series of free public events in Des Moines and Coralville designed to help infuse the arts into the 2012 election cycle in advance of Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucuses.

Award-winning Actress and George Washington University alum Kerry Washington will be greeting and serving fans at Sprinkles Cupcakes in Georgetown on Saturday, October 29 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Her appearance will kick off a nine-day event benefiting Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading organization for advancing the arts and arts education. From October 29 to November 6, 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of Sprinkles Red Velvet cupcakes will be donated to Americans for the Arts.

This fall, consumers can support arts education programs in America's K-12 public schools as they enjoy one of America's fastest growing Italian wines, KRIS. KRIS is teaming with Americans for the Arts, the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts, as part of its second annual "Art of Education" program. KRIS will award 16 schools in the United States a total of $25,000 to improve academic achievement through quality arts education. The KRIS program, which runs from October through November 30, 2011, comes at an important time when students and teachers face record budget cuts that threaten arts education programs across the country.
