Join us for Arts For The Schools' 2nd annual WOODEN BOAT CHALLENGE fundraiser that combines the festival culture of our lively region with a unique new competition event that promotes community involvement. Join us for food, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), live entertainment, local artisans and vendors, kids activities, and a competition that requires teams to build and race their own wooden boat built by hand (no power tools allowed!). Bring the whole family for a fun day on the beach!

Join genARTS Silicon Valley for a vibrant conversation with Bay Area artists, advocates, creatives, gallerists, and non-profit workers on the theme Are the Arts for Everyone?  The panel will consist of 4 speakers and one moderator all of whom represent different aspects of the Bay Area arts and culture sector through their field of work and own creative practices. The San Diego Pro Arte Voices, a chamber choir that performs with a “vibrant, solidly tuned sonority” and who “threw down the gauntlet to other choral organizations in San Diego’s flourishing choral scene” (Ken Herman, San Diego Story), is offering a free concert event on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, at 4:00 p.m. This concert, titled Disarm Hate: a musical response to gun violence, consists of newly-commissioned music that has been written in response to the gun violence epidemic in this world.
