The San Bernardino Symphony will present a celebration of Latin American music complete with traditional singers and dancers at the Roosevelt Bowl at Perris Hill Park, San Bernardino. An art show will be held in the part beginning at 3 p.m. The mariachi Youth Academy will perform at 4 p.m., followed by teh Symphony at 5 p.m. This free concert is sponsored by the Irvine Foundation.

Maestro Frank Fetta conducts a beloved selection of inspired classical music. Todor Pelev and Ana Maria Maldonado perform. Selections include Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Violincello, and Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Scottish Symphony. This event will also include a juried art show including paintings inspired by the selected music as interpreted by talented local high school students.

Celebrate American musical ingenuity with selections from Ellington, Gershwin, Joplin, and Still. Pianist Yana Reznik performs. This event is sponsored, in part, by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.

Join the City of Austin’s Art in Public Places Program for a lively panel discussion with three distinct public art voices from around the country: Norie Sato, Artist based in Seattle, WA; Janet Zweig, Artist based in Brooklyn, NY; and Shelly Willis, Executive Director of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission; moderated by Meghan Wells, Art in Public Places Administrator, City of Austin. The panel will explore timely topics such as the intersection of local identity and artwork, public participation, and the artist’s role in promoting public dialogue.

Long Beach, CA, October 18, 2014: Artist Jocelyn Foye, known for her dynamic performance-based works, will present a spectacular dance and music project as part of the Arts Council for Long Beach’s A LOT Initiative. For this project, Field Dance & The Crane, Jocelyn will transform amateur dancers into complex, choreographed forms. Scores of community members will appear in three dances, performing to a soundtrack that ranges from Pop (Pharrell William’s Happy) to ultra-contemporary (Megan Trainor’s All About the Bass).

An expanded stage, restored stained glass, and a reconditioned wood-paneled ceiling are just some of the recent enhancements to our historic auditorium. Lighting and technology upgrades, handicap accessible ramps, viewing platforms and elevators bring the auditorium up-to-date. With seating for nearly 600, this historic building is ready to show San Bernardino and the Inland Empire exactly how to entertain!

Hip Hop Capulets battle Bollywood Montagues in the classic tale of star-crossed lovers, with dancers performing American street dance, funkified Bhangra, contemporary, and other Indian dance styles.

Presented by the Arts Consortium, Taste the Arts provides the "stage" for local artists to share their work with the community. All change begins with a conversation, but just getting the minds to meet can be a tall order in our sunny yet sprawling city, so on October 14th, 2014 from 6pm - 8pm, Rising Arts Leaders will be presenting the annual event that aims to accomplish just that.

Creative Conversations: Rise to the Occasion, invites rising and established leaders from across the arts and culture spectrum to speak alongside industry veterans as we identify real solutions to some of the biggest obstacles faced here in San Diego.

"Igniting Artful Minds" for the past thirty years, CSU Summer Arts is now in its fourth year of residency on the CSU Monterey Bay campus in beautiful Monterey, California. This season, CSU Summer Arts will be offering over twenty-five public events beginning June 29th through July 25, 2015 on the CSUMB campus. Joining Summer Arts this year will be the recently named U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera for an evening of poetry reading on Tuesday, July 21st.

Anecdotes and qualitative evidence are critical to communicating the transformative effects of arts and culture and giving a full sense of impact of arts for change work. Learn how to collect and analyze qualitative data that's credible. Qualitative information is important for indicating changes in awareness, attitudes, the content and tenor of public dialogue, and in describing the role, nature, and efficacy of aesthetic activity. But it is often considered "soft" evidence.
